Study for a Semester in New Zealand!
Institution
Located on the northern coast of the South Island of New Zealand, NMIT offers a variety of attractive academic options. Students will receive great exposure to local industries as well as a large number of opportunities outside of the classroom to explore all that New Zealand has to offer.
Location
NMIT's Nelson and Marlborough campuses are located at the top of the South Island which gives us privileged access to some of the best outdoor activities and scenery anywhere in the world. The Nelson campus location means quick and easy access to the cafés, restaurants and shopping in Nelson city. Just one and a half hours’ drive from Nelson, the Blenheim campus provides a standalone study abroad experience which allows you to immerse yourself in the world of winemaking. The Marlborough region produces 78 percent of New Zealand’s grapes for wine and is the home of the acclaimed New Zealand Sauvignon Blanc variety. Study during the Semester 1 (February to June) and you can include a course that allows placement in a local winery producing your own vintage!
Students are able to apply for the ISEP Exchange or ISEP Direct program. The major different between these two programs is how fees are structure. On the ISEP Exchange program students pay Appalachian tuition and fees plus the ISEP Full Exchange Fee. On the ISEP Direct program students will be billed the ISEP Direct program fee. Non-resident students should check to see if the ISEP Direct cost will be less than Appalachian out of state tuition rates.
ISEP Chance of Placement - Very Limited (students should have another ISEP exchange program with a Good or better chance of placement as a backup or be prepared to go Direct)
Academic Calendar
- Fall Semester: Mid July to Early November (Session II in New Zealand)
- Spring Semester: Late February to Late June (Session I in New Zealand)
Housing
Students on the NMIT program will stay at university arranged housing, either student apartments or a homestay.
